A World of Octobers

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”

-  L. M. Montgomery

It’s the beginning of October and Autumn’s paints with a rich palette. At harvest time, we’re reminded that we live off the land. Nature’s bounty is on display at Fall fairs, festivals and outdoor markets. The country comes into the city creating a time for sharing and community. Often it is a time to gather with friends and loved ones.

‘But first… Coffee’

International Coffee Day kicks off the month on October 1. While we at Courage Drifter celebrate coffee every day, on this special day you’ll find us with our Alphabet Mugs filled to the brim in the morning and at night we’ll be under Autumn’s night sky, around a bonfire, holding hot beverages and wondering where the summer went. We hope you’ll join us and make yourself comfortable.

October 10th is Indigenous Peoples Days and Canadian Thanksgiving Day. It is a time to give thanks and appreciate the land we live on and the bounty it offers and the people who have been here from the beginning. Let’s sit comfortably together around the table on these festive Tin Hearts pillows and celebrate our good fortune.

October closes out with Halloween.  We’re fascinated to see how various cultures have adopted this festival internationally. For example, Mexico has assimilated the Halloween custom of trick-or-treating into its Day of the Dead traditions and Europe celebrates in many unique ways.

Autumn is also a wonderful time to be in the country and the forest, marvelling at Nature’s colours and smells. We’ll definitely be on the hunt for wild mushrooms…

Indtil næste gang,
